Happy new year from JQA.
We are delighted to have been approved again as a consultant by the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). This is our 11th successive year as an Approved Consultant and we are pleased to be able to continue to offer our wide range of quality services to Third Sector arts and community organisations.

Following completion of a three-year business plan,  Annapurna Indian Dance is getting ready for the creation of new works Dancing for the Deities and  Monsoon Tales. The company plans to tour later in the year.

Fast Forward Theatre is working with JQA on a business plan for the development of the next three years' of the company's exciting and imaginative work in the Dearne Valley.

September 2009
Following a recent JQA fundraising campaign, congratulations go to Caleb on the award of their Big Lottery grant of £157,300 for the company's work with alcohol and substance abusers in Bradford. 

July 2009
JQA has started fundraising for the development of a new, fully accessible pavilion for Old Sharlston Cricket Club that will also host Blind Cricket events.

May 2009
Cottingley Cornerstone Centre has asked JQA to consult with the community to investigate the needs for older people's well-being in Cottingley. The consultation will lead to the development of a business plan for Bradford Council to support provision at Cornerstone of the services and activities requested.

March 2009
JQA has secured a Heritage Lottery Fund grant of nearly £50,000 for St Andrew's Church, Kildwick. This will be used to develop a heritage area in the church and a programme of heritage events to highlight the history of the Lang Kirk, which dates back to Saxon times.

The Old Mill Centre near Richmond, North Yorkshire, is planning to develop creative and performing arts facilities as part of its residential retreat centre. JQA is carrying out a feasibility study to test the demand for such facilities.

February 2009
St Andrew's Church in Gargrave, North Yorkshire, has commissioned JQA to research the need for community facilities in the village, and to advise on how the church could help to meet those needs.

January 2009
A new extension to provide community facilities is planned by St John's Church, Clayton, Bradford. JQA is researching the need for these facilities by building on work already carried out by the church and initiating and supporting widespread community consultation.

The Feasibility Study into the provision of new community facilities for St Luke's Church and the Methodist Church in Headless Cross, Redditch, has been delivered, and architects have been commissioned to provide options for development.

Old Sharlston Cricket Club has its Business Plan for developing its new pavilion and facilities for the promotion of Blind Cricket. A fundraising strategy will now be developed and implemented.

Annapurna Indian Dance has received an Arts Council award for organisational development, and JQA will work with the company over several months from April to support the board and staff to develop and increase their capacity to deliver high quality touring and educational programmes in the future. This builds on the intial work carried out in 2008.

December 2008
The Old Mill Centre
near Richmond, North Yorkshire, has commissioned JQA to prepare a Feasibility Study into the development of creative and performing arts facilities for residential and awayday use by organisations and individuals.

November 2008
HRH The Prince of Wales has officially opened Cottingley Cornerstone Centre. The Centre already has many regular users and is available for activities and meetings seven days a week. Contact 01274 512800 for further details.

September 2008
JQA will be starting on a new project in Redditch, Worcestershire, this month. An Anglican and a Methodist church are planning the joint provision of new community facilities and JQA will provide research, feasibility and business planning services.

Annapurna Indian Dance Company of Halifax is undertaking an organisational review, and JQA has started work on this with the company.

St Michael and All Angels Church, part of Cottingley Cornerstone Centre, was dedicated on the 6 th of September, the first public event at the centre. Plans for an Open Week are in hand for the middle of October.

The August 25 edition of Arts Professional Magazine (Issue 176) carries an article by Anne-Marie entitled When creative becomes coercive. Follow this link to access a copy of the magazine; the article is on page 5.

August 2008
The Feasibility Report into Old Sharlston Cricket Club's plans for developing a centre of excellence for Blind and Disability Cricket has been completed and the business planning is now underway.

Caleb continues to plan for the development of Bradford 's first residential detox centre, and JQA is working with them on capital and revenue fundraising.

Cottingley Cornerstone Centre is getting closer to completion, with the dedication of St Michael and All Angels Church taking place on September 6 and an Open Week of events planned for mid October.

June 2008
Congratulations to Caleb who have achieved the funding for their new detoxification centre in Bradford. JQA has completed the business plan for the centre and will continue to support the project as required.

Cottingley Cornerstone Centre has been awarded a grant of £48,230 by WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited) following an application made by JQA. The grant will pay for the construction of a Sensory Garden and a Wildlife Garden, both of which are being designed by students from Shipley College.

Anne-Marie has finally had the opportunity to dress up and wear a silly hat at her doctoral graduation from City University. The ceremony was at Southwark Cathedral, and she has been invited to give lectures and seminars from time to time at the Department of Cultural Policy and Management.

April 2008
JQA has made a successful application to Big Lottery for Cottingley Cornerstone Centre and raised over £315,000, the second largest grant obtained for the centre. The money will be used to equip the centre with a range of sound, lighting, IT and kitchen equipment as well as enabling landscaping and paving outside.

March 2008
JQA is now working with Caleb on a new detox unit for Bradford and with the Old Sharlston Cricket Club on plans for a new pavilion.

January 2008
The Building Development Group of St Andrew's Church, Kildwick, is moving forward with its submission to the Chancellor of Bradford Diocese to redevelop the church's interior. JQA is updating the business plan and advising on media relations and fundraising.

December 2007
The business plan for Caleb's structured daycare extension has been delivered and further discussions for future business planning and fundraising support will take place in 2008.

A Centre Manager for Cottingley Cornerstone Centre has been appointed. She is Zoë Marston and this month she has begun to meet with local community organisations to discuss the use of facilities when the centre opens in Summer 2008. The foster care home for young people with severe disabilities was handed over on December 7th – the first completed building on the Cornerstone site.

November 2007
Work has begun wit h The Olive Branch Trust at Caleb, one of the leading independent drug and alcohol agencies in Bradford. Caleb offers high quality therapeutic structured day care and support for those experiencing problems of drugs and alcohol misuse. JQA will research and prepare a detailed business plan to develop the project further.

Travelling Light, which works with homeless and mental health service users in Bradford, has a new business plan.

Karen Phillips, of the Creative Enterprise Office, County Louth, Ireland has organised a trip to Edinburgh for CEO Club members who represent a variety of Irish creative enterprises, 15th - 19th August.

May 2007 :
The creation of new community facilities at Cottingley Cornerstone Centre is well under way, and a film made by Futurebuilders England is now available on the website.

April 2007 :
Work has begun with Travelling Light in Bradford, a programme of music-based workshops, radio shows and gigs which aims to engage homeless and mental health service users. JQA will carry out a feasibility study consisting of an options appraisal and business plan to develop the project further.

March 2007 :
Supported by Interreg III, JQA is assisting the Creative Enterprise Office, Louth County Enterprise Board (Ireland) to assemble a comprehensive database of information about the resources available to creative industries in the East Border Region, which comprises Counties Louth, Monaghan, Armagh and Down.

July 2006:
Research begins into preparation of an Audience Development Plan for Wilton's Music Hall in London. The plan will contribute to a capital application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Foundation stones are laid for Cottingley Cornerstone Centre and St Michael and All Angels Church on July 26th. BBC Radio 4 will broadcast a piece on the project on the Sunday Programme on July 30.

June 2006:
A wonderful community show marked the re-opening of Dearne Playhouse on 17th following a £1m refurbishment, funds for which were secured by JQA from Arts Council England. Congratulations to all.

Camden Chinese Community Centre hosted a party to mark the completion of its relocation to a new centre in London on 29th. The move was made with the help of lottery funding and JQA assisted with strategic business planning and fundraising research.

Work has begun with Theatre Resource, Essex, to assist with the development of quality improvement for the organisation as it prepares for a large scale capital development.

The report into development needs for creative enterprises in the East Border region of Ireland is complete and will be presented to the Steering Group in August.

April 23rd 2006:
Ian NelsonToday we lost a much valued friend and colleague, and the first associate of JQA, Ian Nelson. As a consultant, Ian was extraordinarily knowledgeable, and was well-known to many of our project partners for his honest and straightforward approach. It was a privilege to work alongside him. He was also an exceptional musician. Ian died at home, and everyone at JQA sends heartfelt condolences to Diane, and to Julian, Louis and Lucy. He will long be remembered with deep affection.

a hostel accommodation service for young homeless people in Sheffield has commissioned JQA to help with business planning.

The first networking event for creative enterprises in Ireland took place on Friday 27th January at Market Place Theatre, Armagh, Northern Ireland when a new website for Irish creative industries was launched: www.ceoclub.ie

Arts Council England has awarded a grant to Cottingley Cornerstone Centre to enable an artist to work as part of the design team for the new community buildings.

December 05 :
Work has formally commenced to refurbish the theatre at Dearne Playhouse, Barnsley. JQA raised £1m capital from Arts Council England for the project and we send many congratulations to all at DCMWS who have worked so hard to achieve success.

November 2005 :
Work is under way for Louth County Enterprise Board (Ireland) on a cross-border Training Needs Assessment Study for the Creative Enterprise Office. The study is researching skills gaps in creative industries in Co Louth, Co Monaghan, Co Armagh and Co Down, leading to development of a Training Plan.

October 2005 :
Research and consultation into the potential for funding for new arts facilities began for Outreach 3 Way in Crawley. The organisation provides day care for people with learning disabilities.

September 2005 :
Members of the Management Committee of South Square Centre, Thornton, Bradford completed the first stage of reviewing their current strategic plan by holding an Awayday on 10th September.

August 2005 :
A final £500,000 is needed by the Cottingley Cornerstone Centre to meet the overall target for the development of £4.8million.

July 2005 :
The International Association of Arts Management published the proceedings of its 2008 Conference on the web, including a paper on workplace bullying in the performing arts by Anne-Marie Quigg who gave a presentation to conference delegates in Montreal.

June 2005 :
A full Business Plan was completed for the refurbishment of Ripon Cathedral Choir School, including the provision of new arts and sports facilities for the local community.

May 2005 :
An offer of over £1m to Cottingley Cornerstone Centre has been approved by the Board of Futurebuilders England, including £15,000 to ensure JQA is retained to continue capacity building.

April 2005 :
A three-year strategic development plan has been completed for integrated arts project The Little Herberts in Coventry.

An Options Appraisal of the potential for refurbishment of St Andrew's Church, Kildwick has been completed.

Desford Colliery Bands, Coalville, North West Leicestershire, received a brand new three-year plan for growth and development.

July 2004 : Fast Forward Theatre was funded for an arts development worker based in Dearne Community Theatre, Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire.

June 2004 : Dearne Community and Miners' Welfare Scheme has been awarded a capital grant of £950,000 from Arts Council England.
